G-Beauty
Introduction
Korean beauty is yesterday’s news: the latest trend in cosmetics is called G-Beauty and is already on the verge of conquering the whole world. The abbreviation “G” stands for “German,” so we are talking about “German beauty,” which in turn means cosmetics “Made in Germany.” Hollywood is already completely enthusiastic about the new trend. Stars such as Diane Kruger swear by luxury skincare products from Germany, and there is even a dedicated hashtag for the cosmetics hype on Instagram (#gbeauty). But what is so special about G-Beauty? And how does the trend differ from K-Beauty, for example?
Why G-Beauty is so popular
For decades, “Made in Germany” has been synonymous with the highest quality, efficiency, and purity. Until now, however, other countries mainly associated German cars or German beer with this seal of quality. That has now changed.
Consumers and beauty experts around the world have recognized that G-Beauty is virtually a promise of quality and therefore absolutely trustworthy. Traditional German brands and so-called doctor brands, i.e., cosmetic brands that have a doctor’s title in their name, are particularly popular. German beauty stands for proven results and—almost more importantly—for scientifically tested active ingredients of the highest quality. Those who buy the products can therefore rely not only on their effectiveness, but also on their quality and purity. After all, G-Beauty is often developed by dermatologists or at least tested by independent dermatologists.
G-Beauty is considered credible and sustainable: two qualities that are becoming increasingly important around the globe. So it’s no wonder that German Beauty is now revered even by international stars. But there is a second reason for the popularity of G-Beauty.
Minimal effort, maximum efficiency
The Korean cosmetics trend K-Beauty has taught us that many individual skincare steps can build on each other. But combining the different steps takes a lot of time… and time is more precious than ever these days. G-Beauty, on the other hand, gives us time, because it’s all about achieving the best possible efficiency with as little effort as possible. This is well received, as more and more consumers are opting for simple and easy skin care. They have neither the time nor the desire to spend hours in the bathroom: after all, everyday life is already hectic enough for most people.
G-Beauty is unpretentious and unspectacular, and that is precisely what is so loved in the cosmetics world. No unnecessary frills, no hopelessly overloaded bathroom shelves, but instead incredibly simple application options, time savings, high quality standards, reliability, purity, and effectiveness. It’s a concept that works and is certainly not going to disappear again.
The G-Beauty cosmetics trend and its products
G-Beauty manufacturers and suppliers are really taking off and are well on their way to success. The product range is also becoming increasingly extensive. Two very important themes of G-Beauty are moisturizing and anti-aging care. Whether day and night cream or concentrated serum, the main focus of the corresponding care lines is to ensure the skin is supplied with nutrients and moisture, to slow down the natural aging process of the skin, and to improve the overall appearance of the skin. The focus is clearly on natural active ingredients. Many G-Beauty products have an antioxidant, strengthening, protective, and anti-inflammatory effect or stimulate the skin’s regeneration process. The G-Beauty range is complemented by cleansing products and care masks. Here, too, the focus is on quality and efficiency.
What active ingredients are typically found in G-Beauty?
German Beauty is only authentic if the most important active ingredients come from Germany. Fortunately, the list of cosmetically recommended ingredients is very long.
Lemon balm oil profile
An interesting example of a native plant is lemon balm. It has antiviral, antimicrobial, and fungicidal properties and is very suitable for blemished skin. As it promotes blood circulation, it also contributes to faster skin regeneration, making it appear younger.
INCI: Melissa Officinalis Leaf Oil

EINECS number: 282-007-0
Extraction: steam distillation from the tips of the branches and leaves of lemon balm

Profile of true chamomile
Chamomile is also native to our region. It regenerates tissue, stimulates skin metabolism and, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, is also suitable for the care of blemished or oily skin.
INCI: Matricaria Recutica L.
CAS number: 84082-60-0 (Chamomilla Recutita Extract), 8002-66-2 (Chamomilla Recutita Oil)
Main components: alpha-bisabolol, flavonoids, carboxylic acids, coumarins
Effect: soothing, antibacterial
Grape seed extract profile
Grape seed extract scores highly with its fantastic anti-aging effect. This is thanks to the secondary plant substance OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins), which specifically combats free radicals and is one of the strongest antioxidants available. OPC protects fiber proteins, skin cells, and blood vessels from aging. The substance repairs collagen that has become unstable and strengthens the skin’s enzyme activity, providing better protection against UV radiation. Grape seed extract can also accelerate wound healing.
INCI: Grape Seed Extract/Vitis vinifera
CAS number: 84929-27-1
EINECS number: 284-511-6
Description: Extract from the seeds of red grapes
Main components: Proanthocyanidins
Effect: Antioxidant, repairing, protective, antimicrobial
Birch extract profile
Birch extract is very well suited for creams and emulsions. It has a cleansing effect, activates the skin’s metabolism, refines the pores, and gives the hair more volume. It is often used in products to combat cellulite and smooth the skin. Birch extract also improves blood circulation.
Description: extract obtained from birch leaves
INCI: Betula alba leaf extract
CAS number: 84012-15-7
EINECS number: 281-660-9
Main ingredients: Tannins, flavonoids
G-Beauty: Cosmetics “Made in Germany”
The abbreviation G-Beauty stands for a cosmetics trend that is unstoppable. Beauty products “Made in Germany” are currently causing a sensation worldwide and are a more than worthy successor to the K-Beauty trend from Korea, which has now faded somewhat into the background. G-Beauty stands for the highest quality, first-class active ingredients, and efficiency.
