CSC method

CSC methode; Green hair conditioner

Washing our hair is actually a routine matter that we can do in our sleep, so to speak. We don’t think about it too much, we just apply our favourite shampoo to wet hair, massage it in briefly and rinse it off with plenty of clean water. Maybe we use conditioner afterwards, but that’s usually it. However, there are various methods of hair washing that can work wonders for some hair problems. These methods are also easy to use at home: you don’t need to visit an expensive hairdresser. One of these methods is the CSC method. Does that sound highly scientific? It’s not at all!

How does the CSC method work?

CSC is an abbreviation and stands for Conditioner – Shampoo – Conditioner. The method is aimed primarily at people with dry hair or dry ends and describes a routine that should be used whenever possible with every hair wash. Sure, it’s a bit more involved, but if you use it consistently, your reward will be wonderfully soft and shiny hair. And let’s be honest: the CSC method doesn’t take that much time! You can even do it in the morning before work! But how exactly does the CSC method work?

Normally, we apply conditioner after shampooing, i.e. when we have rinsed out the shampoo. The CSC method is different. Here, the conditioner is applied twice and initially into the hair before shampooing. The reason for this is that it protects the hair from drying out twice and maintains its moisture level. The conditioner acts as a kind of protective shield during shampooing, which is particularly beneficial for dry ends.

Instructions for the CSC method

But let’s start with the first step of the CSC method: a good conditioner is carefully worked into the dry lengths and ends. The hair should be wet for this. This first step of the CSC method ensures that the ends are sealed so that the ingredients of the shampoo cannot harm them.

There are different options for continuing the CSC method. Some recommend applying the shampoo immediately afterwards and washing the hair as usual, without rinsing out the conditioner first. Others advocate rinsing out the conditioner completely after the first step of the CSC method before applying the shampoo. Both methods are effective, so in principle it doesn’t matter whether the conditioner is left in the hair or not. In any case, it is recommended to shampoo only at the roots.

In any case, after shampooing, all hair must be completely rinsed. Finally, conditioner is applied again to the lengths and tips. Rinse well, done! The CSC method is an uncomplicated and effective way to prevent hair damage, split ends and dryness or to make dry hair more supple again. You will see the first positive results very quickly, and if you use the CSC method consistently, the risk of your hair drying out is minimised.

Which products do I need for the CSC method?

It is important that you use high-quality products with valuable and preferably natural ingredients. Conditioner and shampoo should be suitable for dry hair and be rich in texture so that they provide plenty of moisture. The better the products are, the more effective the CSC method will be.

Almond and argan oils, for example, are particularly recommended. They can penetrate the hair cuticle and smooth it. Jojoba and macadamia oils have similar properties. Ginseng root is known for its excellent strengthening effect and helps to protect hair from split ends and breakage. Aloe vera is another excellent ‘candidate’. It cares for and nourishes the hair right down to the tips, provides plenty of moisture and is rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Since aloe vera also has soothing properties, it is suitable for sensitive scalps. With its high moisture content, glycerine is also an optimal solution for thirsty and brittle hair.

And then there are ceramides, which can repair brittle areas of the hair and strengthen the hair structure. All these ingredients and a few more, such as hyaluronic acid, are ideal for the CSC method because their composition and properties make them particularly good for dry hair.

Incidentally, the CSC method is sometimes also referred to as the CWC method. However, both terms describe the same process: the ‘W’ in the abbreviation stands for ‘washing’.

The miracle weapon against dry hair

Dry hair is a nuisance because it looks straw-like, brittle, lifeless and sometimes even really unkempt. A simple care ritual can help to protect hair from drying out: the CSC method, sometimes also known as the CWC method. It is no longer an insider tip, but word is spreading more and more, and that’s a good thing, because the results speak for themselves.
