Annurca Apple
The Annurca Apple is one of the fruit varieties that were already cultivated in ancient times, about 2000 years ago. Its good reputation has been preserved until the present day. This is not least due to its good appearance, but especially to the juicy sweet taste of the apples. The Annurca Apple is a crisp, aromatic apple with the right balance of fruit acidity and sweetness. It is affectionately called the queen of hearts among apple varieties, not least because of its uniform red color. Annurca apple can be used as an ingredient in cosmetics and skin care products. It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that can help nourish and protect the skin.
Picking and harvesting of the Annurca Apple
Annurca Apple is grown in the southern part of Italy such as in Garcia Campi Flegrei near Naples, in Aversa of the province of Caserta or Telesina, which is in the province of Benevento. However, the most important place of cultivation is Campania and Lazio, the Annurca Apple apples coming from here conquer the heart of every Italian.
The harvest time of the Annurca Apple apple takes place in October and lasts for about two months. Partly the apple is picked before its final ripening, in order to avoid injuries on the skin or bruises when falling down. After picking, the Annurca Apple apples are spread on the ground and turned over at regular intervals. Here they receive once again the last warm rays of the sun, which give the apple its final red color. It is certainly also interesting that the Annurca Apple has a short stem. This prevents the heavy fruit from falling quickly from the tree. At the same time, this circumstance favors the harvest of the farmers. Under good conditions, the apples can then be stored until next summer.
Valuable substances also for the cosmetics industry
The Annurca Apple variety contains high levels of vitamins A and C, as well as a special type of malic acid that gives it its characteristic taste. In combination with minerals such as iron and potassium, it also contains ideal substances for skin care. These substances of the Annurca Apple support the tightening of the skin and regulate the moisture balance. They promote regeneration during the night and play a significant role in protecting against oxidative skin stress. That is thanks to the special fruit acids and, in addition to the minerals already mentioned, the tannins they contain. In skin creams, these ingredients are among the most important substances for a fresh and youthful appearance.
Malus Annurca is used in cosmetics in many products. High-quality facial toner and sophisticated face creams are just as much a part of this as shampoos, shower gels and lotions.
